Net neutrality plays a major part in the daily lives of an internet user. But what happens if the freedom to communicate freely online is prohibited? Or if the telecom company dictates you who and where to call only, what are you going to do now?
What is net neutrality?
Net neutrality is the primary principle that forbids Internet Service Providers (ISPs) like Verizon, Comcast, and AT&T from accelerating, delaying, or stalling any applications, content, or websites that you want to access. It means an internet that capacitates and defends free speech. Likewise, ISPs should bring consumers with open networks.
FCC net neutrality rules repeal effects
The Federal Communications Commission’s announcement of the net neutrality appeal created an outrage to many people and businesses. Telecom companies seem to be the only one who is happy about the repeal.
Many companies and websites are advocating for net neutrality, and Reddit is one of them. It is summoning its community to support net neutrality rules and save it. The repeal of net neutrality rules will take effect on April 23 unless the Congress rejects FCC’s rollback of the rule and acquire one more vote from a Republican senator to support the net neutrality rules.
A Reddit spokesperson appealed to the internet groups to approach their representatives and encourage them to vote for Congressional Review Act. According to the announcement, the CRA is fundamentally Congress’s downvote. It allows them to abolish the FCC’s order by a ‘resolution of disapproval.’
Not only websites are against the repeal of the net neutrality rules. Even in the cryptocurrency market, traders are against it. Decenternet, or dnet for short, is a start-up that strongly advocates net neutrality. Recently, it launched and had great plans to market strongly in June.
Not too many people are familiar with dnet but the company boasts of substantial funds. The project is already in its early stage of seeding and is drawing a lot of interests. Spyce is the default intellectual resource currency dealt in exchange for goods and services. It can be exchanged with other major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dash.
